Meet The Team

Gavin Brown

Gavin along with his wife Carrie & and their five children: Levi, Liza Jeanne, Shelby, Sadie, & Anabelle, live in Waynesville, NC which is the town of his childhood.  Before returning to his hometown, Gavin earned his degree in Construction Management at Appalachian State University in Boone, NC.  During this time he also took advantage of the opportunity to spend a semester abroad studying at the University of Science & Technology in Sydney, Australia.  In the years that followed Gavin moved to Bolivia, South America where he oversaw the construction, maintenance, and volunteer teams of Kory Wawanaca Children’s Home, a home for abandoned & orphaned children of Bolivia.  As Gavin’s family began to grow he moved back to Western North Carolina & joined the team at Thompson Properties where he was able to expand & practice his knowledge of custom building.  During his seven years on the team, John & Nancy grew to greatly appreciate and respect Gavin’s integrity and work ethic, and encouraged him to obtain his contractor’s license. Then, in 2019, they collaborated to form Thompson & Brown Custom Builders, which will build a limited number of luxury custom homes each year so that the highest standards of customer service and quality can be maintained.

When Gavin is not building homes he enjoys participating in the activities of FUMC Waynesville, camping with his family, traveling, and following sports.

Gavin truly enjoys the relationships he forms with his clients as he helps them turn their visions & dreams for a new home into a reality.  He has also earned the respect and loyalty of the most talented subcontractors and craftsmen in Western North Carolina, and effectively manages job sites, schedules and budgets to make the building process a rewarding, enjoyable experience.
